Bio
Christina Carte (INA) is an award-winning independent singer, songwriter, and producer—born in Ganzhou, China, raised in Minneapolis, MN, and now based in both Washington, DC and Tallahassee, FL. With over a decade of experience in music studies, composition, performance, and chorale directing, INA brings depth and emotional clarity to every project.
Songwriter, Performer & Sync Artist
INA creates emotionally resonant music that explores grief, love, and sustaining self. Blending acoustic, lo-fi, ambient, and alternative R&B, her sound offers an audible hug with every track. Her catalog includes Be Still, INA (Debut EP - 2022), BREATHE (Single - 2023), and 3MOTIONS (EP - 2025).
Ina also writes for sync licensing, building a catalog of cinematic, emotionally driven songs for film, TV, and advertising. Her current project, 25 for 2025, is a year-long writing challenge blending personal expression and sync-focused practice. Songs 1–10 are deeply personal, while songs 11–20 are crafted to mock sync briefs. She is actively building relationships with sync executives, including the infamous Brett Engel, building a relationship with Universal Music.
Songwriter for Other Artists
Under the pseudonym NIA, she writes for other artists. Her genre-fluid, emotionally intelligent songs are tailored to each performer’s voice, with recent opportunities to write for artists such as SZA and Kylie Marshall and other rising artists across soul, R&B, pop, and indie.

25 for 2025 is an ongoing project pushing INA to write and release 25 new songs—part creative challenge, part growth and practice opportunity.
Songs 1–10 are a mix of honest expression, genre exploration, and prompt-based writing.
As INA dives into the world of sync (music for film, TV, and campaigns), Songs 11–20 will follow mock sync briefs.

3MOTIONS is a 3-track, neo-soul project inviting its listeners into 3 stages of falling for someone new. Just in time for Valentines day, 3MOTIONS was released in February 2025, featuring 3 songs:

BREATHE is a haunting seven layer, a cappella song dedicated to both INA’s younger and present self. With each layer representing different stages of her grief, it is a reminder to breathe through every motion, finding the beauty in all of grief’s gravities. This song was released on her 26th birthday in May 2023.
This single will be featured on an upcoming EP of ambient a cappella songs, due to release in May 2026.

Be Still, INA is INA’s debut release. Featuring 8 songs, her EP invites its listener into INA’s ongoing and intimate journey in search of stillness. The songs are listed below.

Pressure is an alt-R&B slow-burn that blends soul, ambient textures, and contemporary R&B elements. Pressure explores sensuality through breathy vocals and emotional restraint—offering a raw portrait of closeness and connection perfect for late-night playlists. This will be released in partnership with IGA Talent and Sony Music in October 2025.
In Wading | Single | Dec 2025
In Wading is a tender indie ballad that captures INA’s quiet struggle to keep her head above water during emotionally turbulent times. Set for release in December 2025, the track honors her grandmother’s birthday—a woman who has remained a steady refuge through every storm.
Brother | Single | Feb 2026
Brother is a heartfelt tribute to INA’s brother, who passed in 2010. With country and pop elements, the song expresses what INA would say to him if he was still here. This song is Song 5, from 25 for 2025.
Home | EP | May 2026
Home is an 8-track project featuring all a capella songs, in the style of BREATHE. With ambient and abstract sounds, the project is intended to give its listeners room to breathe, decompress and reflect. This album is set to drop on INA’s 29th birthday in May 2025.
FLOW | Single | June 2026
FLOW is a feel good afro-beat indie fusion celebrating what it feels like to be fully present. This upcoming summer hit is due to drop in June 2026.
Letters to the Sun | Single | 2026
Letters to the Sun is a raw, one-person conversation, as INA reflects on all the things she’d say to her birth parents if she had the chance. This slow, indie piano ballad is just the start of what will become a full album written on INA’s journey back to China in search of her home. The single will be available in December 2026.
